Dusk

I took this picture last night around 9:30. I was on my way home from an evening of babysitting and the night sky faded westward in an mesmerizing shade of blue. I stood awestruck by the water for a good long while. Creation is a beautiful thing.

Also, I got the call from the wildfire folks...I'm going to be fighting fire after all. I will officially be on the North Star crew out of Ft. Wainwright in Fairbanks. I report on May 14th.

I've got to buy some boots, and a plane ticket.

  1. congrats Thomas, you've got the fire fighting job. now, once you have started the job, you will have to wait for fires. i doubt there will be any fires in northern Alaska, even though it is summer time, because it is too cold. so i hope that there will be fires ( not what someone would usually hope for). also, you shaved. that means that you broke my promise of coming home with a big beard. thanks. ;)

p.s. i feel sorry for the garden center lady you dumped. you were one of only two employees that she had for the summer. now who is she going to find someone to work for her that knows about flowers and lives in Alaska?

  2. philip,

dude, you've got your facts all wrong. i didn't shave my face, i just cut my hair! so don't worry one bit, i'll be coming home with that beard. as far as being a fireman goes, i'm excited. i also hope that alaska burns this summer; contrary to what it would seem - some of the largest forest fires ever have been in alaska.

yeah, i felt bad about about having to let down the garden center lady, but, i'm not too worried about her. There are enough hippies in sitka to produce at least one other person who know's a little about flowers.

okay, take it easy, i'll be calling you soon. love ya bro.
